John Deere has now made taking care of your lawn even easier by introducing a brand new app that functions as a FitBit for your lawn mower – much in the way that FitBit tracks your exercise routine, this app dubbed MowerPlus keeps track of your mower’s performance. It can even be used with non John Deere models.
The new app from John Deere Technology Innovation Center in Moline, IL, utilizes the GPS technology of your smartphone or tablet device to track and show your path while mowing (accurate within three feet) with an aerial view, how much ground you’ve covered, and how much time has elapsed since the mowing began. Whether you’re working on a construction project or taking care of your front lawn, developers say that the app enhances your experience by providing more information than previously available.
The MowerPlus app will even show you how long it has been since your lawn was last mowed and will alert you to recommended maintenance and service deadlines based on your mower’s specific model and how long it has been in use. The app step-by-step troubleshooting instructions for common problems, but if you can’t seem to handle it yourself, the app also lets you contact John Deere customer service specialists with the touch of a button.
Founded in 1837, John Deere is no stranger to innovative technologies. Recently, the company began working with students at the University of Illinois to develop a robotic lawn mower that can cut the grass for you.
The app is now available for both iOS and Android.
